Updated: Sep 10, 2025

Set to be the iconic star’s first Australian performance in over a decade, An Evening with Bernadette Peters will hit the Brisbane Convention Centre as part of Melt Festival on Friday, 24 October.

With a prolific career spanning six decades, Peters remains one of entertainment’s most celebrated performers, who has captivated audiences across stage, film and television, earning Tony Awards, a Golden Globe and Emmy nominations along the way.

Renowned for creating the roles of The Witch in Into the Woods and Dot in Sunday in the Park with George in the original Broadway productions, Peters is a defining voice in musical theatre and continues to amass new fans.

With appearances on both The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live! over the past few weeks, Peters is currently performing in the highly anticipated, Broadway season of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends. Following acclaimed runs in the West End and Los Angeles, the show is receiving widespread praise, further cementing her enduring legacy and connection to the work of Stephen Sondheim.

Peters’ extensive body of work includes iconic film appearances in The Jerk, Pennies from Heaven (for which she won a Golden Globe) and Annie, as well as beloved television roles in Mozart in the Jungle, The Good Fight and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.

An icon of the LGBTQIA+ community and tireless advocate and fundraiser for AIDS patients and research via her work with the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Peters’ performance at Melt Festival 2025 is set to be a powerful celebration of both artistry and activism, reflecting her enduring commitment to the community and the causes she champions.
