Stories From the Sea

Updated: Sep 21, 2025

Stories from the Sea is a fantastic immersive spring school holiday program bursting with hands-on activities, storytelling and science, all inspired by the wonders of the ocean at Queensland Museum Kurilpa from September 20 - October 5.

Children playing in light projections

At the heart of the program is Patch Theatre’s internationally acclaimed Sea of Light. Across 16 days, children will step into a glowing seascape where they use torches and movement to paint with light, creating a magical ocean world of their own.

Child in immersive light projections

The fun doesn’t stop there! Kids can meet real marine experts and scientists in the Deep Dive Talks, get crafty and create a sea creature.

They can also build a reef, follow a brand-new First Nations Children’s Trail, and enjoy special Storytime sessions that bring the sea to life.

Child with light projections

With just one ticket, children can enjoy endless sea adventures these school holidays!

Need to know - tickets are $35 per child (includes accompanying adult).
