Hudson Corner

Albion

Last updated: Jul 27, 2021

Hudson Corner American Barbecue and Ale House brings smokin’ hot delicious American style soul food to a cosy side street corner of Albion.

With some great craft beers on tap, Hudson Corner is the local hotspot for a casual night or weekend get-together as well as a source of tasty great value takeaway or eat-in lunches, snacks and dinners that go down a treat.

Décor is simple, of the kind you can imagine dotted with flannel shirted guys in trucker caps with pick-up parked outside - tiled floor, country style wooden stools and a fishing rod propped at the counter, a smattering of tables and chairs and a bookshelf with beer bibles and retro framed pics and posters.

The menu centres around finger-lickin’ freshly made items like buffalo wings (spicy chicken wings with blue cheese or chipotle sauce), pulled pork rolls (with house made BBQ sauce) or burritos (slow-smoked pork shoulder and house-made Tex Mex salsa wrapped in a soft tortilla) and Texas beef brisket rolls or burritos.

Otherwise, there’s a highly recommended Hudson Corner Combo Plate of pulled pork, Texas beef brisket, buffalo wings, Tex Mex salsa and coleslaw.

All meat is smoked in-house and the accompaniments - like salsa, BBQ sauce and coleslaw (which comes in 3 varieties with a different flavour per day) - are made onsite.

Look out for the daily desserts too – think pecan pie and Cowboy biscuits.

In addition there’s the option of house-made fries with that and sauces are as mild or as hot as you like it. For those who like it really hot, there’s bottles of Louisiana’s Pure Crystal Hot Sauce or Frank’s Red Hot Original on the counter.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
