Around Brisbane

Updated: Sep 26, 2025

Here are 5 picturesque and easy walking trails to enjoy along the shores of beautiful lakes and dams that are all within an hour of Brisbane. And three of them have cafes overlooking the water:

North Lakes Environmental Park is like a mini-Kakadu near Brisbane - a protected wetland eco-system home to 29 species of native birds
The Lake Parklands is an idyllic spot to enjoy nature, with plenty of picnic areas and playgrounds dotted alongside picturesque Forest Lake
This easy grade scenic walk of around 1.5km circumnavigates the town lake, via boardwalks, parks and playgrounds and bird hides and is suitable for wheelchairs, prams, bikes and scooters.
Walkabout Creek walks consist of two bush tracks that originate at the Walkabout Creek Information Centre and car park
There are short paved walking paths along the edge of Hinze Dam as well as a scenic walk along the top of the dam wall
