Superluminal
Queensland Museum
Superluminal is a new, captivating installation for young children and families that blends bold visual storytelling with interactive scientific exploration, at Queensland Museum from March 21-30.
Presented by Patch Theatre Company, the enchanting installation for children 4-8 years old and their families is a blend of bold visual design, collaborative storytelling and interactive play. A theatrical installation full of Patch’s renowned interactive light play, Superluminal investigates nature’s extraordinary creatures, systems and beauty, and how time shapes them.
As children enter Superluminal, they receive colour-changing lanterns to help them uncover exciting images and icons throughout the installation. Inside, a host will guide children on a journey through a series of interactive spaces to reveal hidden animal tracks and discover animals from the past, present and possible future.
From there, children get to create their own mythical creatures, bringing them to life with recorded sounds and spectacular rainbow lighting, and capture their fantastical shadows on a magical glow wall.
An engaging and unforgettable experience designed to ignite children’s curiosity, Superluminal is a family-friendly highlight of the World Science Festival Brisbane!
Need to know - Although free for children under two years of age, they still require a ticket. Sessions are 20 minutes long, commencing from 10am, with the last session at 1.20pm. Meet in the foyer on Level 2 of Queensland Museum.
