Roseville

Teneriffe

Originally part of the estate of Teneriffe House, this ornate Victorian villa was built in 1885 for George Myers, a glassware and china merchant who had a shop in Queen St. The name Roseville is thought to be inspired by the extensive rose garden he planted in the grounds during the short time he lived there.

The house was sold in 1887 and there followed a succession of owners before it ran as a hostel by the oddly named Society of the Divine World and going on to become Roseville, one of Brisbane’s iconic fine dining restaurants of the 1980s.
