Hideki Izakaya is a chic al fresco Japanese restaurant occupying a covered pavilion-style terrace with a stunning lit up cherry tree, on bustling James Street in Fortitude Valley.

A sibling for Hideki Yakitori in Burnett Lane, Brisbane City, Hideki Izakaya is also a vision of sleek design, cherry red banquette seating running along each side and beautiful lighting and tableware.

The menu features an inpressive raw section, with choices like freshly shucked Coffin Bay oysters with citrus yuzu sorbet; tuna or salmon cornets (sesame cone filled with salmon tartare & yuzu sauce); scallop ceviche; or Wagyu truffle toast (toasted brioche & truffle teriyaki butter).

Small share plates include miso eggplant (melt-in-the-mouth); prawn and scallop gyoza; ramen noodle salad; popcorn prawns (tempura prawns topped with seaweed salt); and crispy chicken karaage with tangy spicy mayo.

From the Robata (charcoal grill), the impressive range of delectable skewers includes  charred corn, chicken thigh, wagyu beef, Japanese mushrooms, pork belly & crackling, giant king prawn, scallop, octopus, lamb cutlet, okra or salmon teriyaki).

And the choice of mains includes must-try truffle mushroom noodles (noodles, truffle butter & Japanese mushroom); teriyaki chicken (with sweet teriyaki glaze & veges), Wagyu sirloin (charred, with wyakiniku dipping sauce); and tooth fish Saikyo Yaki (miso-marinated glacier fish with daikon & citrus).

You can also choose from one of their tempting banquets, ranging from the Zen ($88pp) up to The Ocean's Harvest ($165pp).
