Baos Pop Bistro

West End

BAOS POP BISTRO HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Baos Pop Bistro is a funky little Pan-Asian bar eatery in West End, specializing in traditional bao and beer.

Occupying one half of a Queenslander cottage with a large covered terrace out front and marked by a square lantern, Baos Pop Bistro is tucked away a side street, just a few steps away from the main West End action.

Diners can take a seat under cage lanterns in the spacious breezy undercover terrace (which has a rickshaw in one corner), or inside the cottage's minimalist black-walled dining room.

The delicious food menu is a fusion of cuisines throughout Asia, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Thai, with unique bar bites and dishes you won't find anywhere else, all of which go down a treat with beer.

Delectable small bites include corn balls (fresh tempura corn kernels), Korean fried cauliflower with spicy premise made KFC sauce, steamed Japanese eggplant with sesame dressing or fried tofu sandwich with black vinegar sauce.

For something more substantial there's tea smoked duck, stir fry beef with pepper and H & O sauce, steamed barramundi with garlic chives and shiitake mushroom, while other lighter choices include king fish salad, house made noodles or mushroom rice.
