Snack Man

Fortitude Valley

Updated: Jan 16, 2024

Snack Man is a slick cavernous wine bar serving delicious Chinese regional street food next door to its popular sibling Happy Boy in Fortitude Valley.

The dark contemporary high-ceilinged space features bifold windows opening onto the street where there is outdoor seating under enchanted fairylit trees.

Along the walls and under the window are leather and stone banquettes and otherwise there’s a scattering of tables and chairs and a large communal table in the centre.

The bespoke wine menu is projected onto a rear wall, with a focus on European wines and there are also classic cocktails on offer.

The short tasty menu (set to expand significantly in 2019) includes crispy chicken ribs, Ch Siu Bao - BBQ chicken in a ‘pillow’ (crisp or steamed bun) and a selection of dumplings ( including mushroom, open top prawn and pork or opaque prawn). Look out for future substantial additions like noodles, grilled sticks, spring rolls, more dumpling and bun variations and sweets.

In a nutshell - An absolute gem of a late night Chinese street food and wine bar that is worth a trip off the beaten track.

Good to know - Snack Man is by the canny lads behind next door neighbour Happy Boy and Greenglass in the CBD.
