The Designer's Guide: Easton Pearson Archive

Museum of Brisbane

The Designers’ Guide: Easton Pearson Archive is an exciting exhibition featuring more than 200 garments from the internationally-acclaimed, Brisbane-based fashion house showing at the Museum of Brisbane from November 23 until April 22, 2019.

From the label’s launch in 1988 until its close in 2016, Easton Pearson’s eclectic, boldly-patterned and embellished fashions graced catwalks and showrooms across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, America and Australia.

This fascinating exhibition showcases the most daring technical innovations, fabric and embellishment choices - champagne bottle tops and raffia, silver thread and sequins, feathers and beads – from the fashion house over its 28 years and is complemented by sketches, samples, look books, photographs, interviews and anecdotes from the designers and more.

The complete archived collection of Easton Pearson is comprised of more than 3000 signature garments, gifted to the museum by philanthropist Dr Paul Eliadis in 2017.

The Museum of Brisbane worked closely with the designers, Pamela Easton and Lydia Pearson, to select the designs they felt highlighted the greatest innovations of their design and to share the stories behind each piece.

In addition, this exhibit reveals the leading role Easton Pearson played at the forefront of slow fashion and ethical manufacture. They worked closely with artists, artisans and workshops across India and Vietnam to ensure good conditions, fair pay and respectful collaborations.
