Orion Lagoon

Springfield

Orion Lagoon is the sparkling blue jewel in the crown of Robelle Domain, Springfield city’s beautiful green heart and one of Ipswich’s showcase parklands.

The Streets-Beach like oasis, set to be Ipswich’s very own South Bank, is a magnet for families and those who just want to cool off on a hot day, with its vast expanse of shallow pools and water features.

The interconnected pools, which range from .3m (perfect for toddlers) to 1.5m in depth are graded gently from the edge with the deepest part in the centre and are connected by concrete ‘stepping stones’ and bridges. One mid-section is devoted to aquativity, with squirting spouts and a gentle slope with running water for children to scramble over.

Around the lagoon is fringed with astroturf and dotted with shade pavilions and multi-coloured beach umbrellas and on one side is a giant pergola housing the art gas BBQs for visitor’s use.

For those who don’t wish to bring their own food there’s a wood-fired pizza cart and ice-block and coffee bar out front of the changing room area, a retro hot dog cart neat the BBQs and up on the hill overlooking the lagoon is funky eatery Journeys Kitchen and Bar serving Toby’s Estate coffee, Zambrero’s Mexican eatery and Cold Rock Icecreamery.
