The Sugarmill
Woodlands of Marburg
The Sugarmill is a splendid old world restaurant in the high-ceilinged dining room of heritage-listed Victorian mansion Woodlands of Marburg, open for breakfast on weekends as well as dinner.
The restaurant takes its name from the the sugar plantation and mills that were established in Marburg in the 1880's, which were established by sugar baron by Tommy Smith, the original resident of Woodlands.
Helmed by head chef Jeff Bullock, The Sugarmill offers diners a luxurious, elegant experience in a grand room featuring cedar panelled walls and antique chandeliers.
Guests are invited to start the evening in style with a drink in the charming old world splendour of the lounge before moving to the dining room.
On the menu, which is seasonal and locally sourced where possible, you'll find entrees such as Harvey Bay scallops on chorizo crumb, homemade herbed ricotta ravioli or warm poached chicken salad with rice vermicelli, with mains like locally sourced, Oakey Black Premium MSA 100 day grain fed 250g Rib fillet with pomme rosti or wild mushroom and herb risotto.
Meanwhile desserts include chocolate mousse with chocolate biscuit crumbs and King Island double cream, lemon myrtle panna cotta or almond mille feuille.
