Side Street Kitchen
Moorooka
Side Street Kitchen is a cool coffee nook just off busy Beaudesert Road, with a leafy outlook offering all day breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake.
Wedged between a news agency and hair salon on a side street, this secret southside café is from the same fab folks who owned and operated Sip Café in trendy Teneriffe. Surprisingly hip given its location - industrial Moorooka - a large communal table fills the bolthole café with smaller tables spilling out onto the shaded footpath.
Breakfast, which is served all day, is a bargain with most meals coming in under $10. Standouts include eggs benedict with ham off the bone and house made hollandaise sauce, Egyptian eggs with homemade dukkah, labna, and smashed avocado on toasted Turkish, and the bacon and chorizo hot pot with fried egg and grilled haloumi.
Lunch includes made to order sandwiches (ham, chicken, salami, salad), lamb kofta wraps with lettuce, tomato and tzatziki, chicken and beef burgers with all the fixings and daily specials like shepherd's pie, pulled pork rolls with lime chutney and housemade sausage rolls.
Or relax in the shade with a well-brewed Di Bella coffee and freshly baked treat: brownie, blueberry friand, raspberry baked cheesecake or caramel slice.
*Nice to know: there is plenty of parking available.
