Billykart Kitchen
Annerley
Billykart Kitchen is a buzzy neighbourhood cafe housed in an old general store in a quiet suburban crescent in Annerley.
Housed in a former corner store - the Clifton Hill Store sign hangs above the vertical garden in the rear - Billy Kart is open for breakfast and lunch six days a week.
Behind the lime green roller doors, the bright and breezy space offers plenty of seating including a communal bench beside the open kitchen; with wooden floorboards in the front half of the cafe and striking stencilled leaf floor in the back half, while accents of teal, lemon and lime add some zest.
Inspired by seasons and produce available, Billy Kart’s menu changes continually. One thing that will remain constant is the coffee with well-brewed cups of Campos being served, complemented with a selection of home-made sweet treats; many gluten-free like the amazingly moist chocolate nut brownie.
And keeping the corner store tradition alive, locals can pick up a paper, milk and loaf of fresh Banneton bread.
The menu may have changed since our last visit.
