Lodger Kitchen & Bar is an unexpected find in Albion - a contemporary, casual eatery serving top-notch fare with a fine-dining twist.
Tucked away on the ground floor of an ordinary office building on Sandgate Road, Lodger offers al fresco dining on a large, undercover, dog-friendly deck or inside their elegant, understated dining room.
Open Wednesday through Sunday* for lunch, dinner and drinks, customers can commence with French onion soup and crusty sourdough, gin cured salmon salad or beetroot ravioli stuffed with goat’s cheese and served with walnut pesto.
Mouth-watering mains range from barramundi fillets and slow cooked red wine beef cheeks to tea smoked duck breast with parsnip, cherry jus and duck crackling.
Open on weekends for breakfast, favourites include beetroot rosti with smoked salmon and crème fraiche, gingerbread Belgian waffles with roasted peaches and matcha ice-cream, and green cakes (pea ,zucchini, mint and ricotta) served with free- range soft poached eggs and pea tendrils.
Lodger is also dog-friendly and has the ideal outdoor space to kick back with friends, enjoy a few libations and snacks such as three-cheese green olives stuffed with haloumi, brie and blue cheese or crispy potato skins with slow-cooked pork belly and house made kimchi.
The bar is stocked with local craft beer (All Inn Brewing, Ballistic and Slipstream), wine and spirits; while non-alcoholic drinks include locally roasted Fonzie Abbott coffee and Harney & Sons fine teas.
