U & I Espresso

Ashgrove

U & I ESPRESSO HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

U & I Espresso is one of those convivial cafes in Brisbane that manage to combine the retro homey lounge vibe whilst serving coffee and eats that are a notch above. Located right on top of an Ashgrove bus stop, patrons can pull up a paisley stool and watch the world commute by, sink into a comfy floral couch with a complimentary newspaper or slide into a church pew with an old wooden school desk for a table.

From there enjoy a perky Eastern European style Dramanti coffee (for which owner Sasha has gained a reputation for being the best espresso stop in Ashgrove) or one of the house mint hot chocolates. The food menu, an all day brunch deal that blends a mix of light breakfasts and lunches on weekdays and gets a bit more heavy and serious on weekends, changes seasonally but don't miss the Nacho Libre – light crispy quesadillas filled with sundried tomato, jalapeno, feta, cheddar and coriander – or try The Hulk – smashed avo, tomato and haloumi on sourdough.

When it comes to ingredients, Sasha tries to source locally where possible, with meats from local star butcher Billy's and cheeses from the best little cheese factory in Brisbane, Pandelyssi.
