National Photographic Portrait Prize
State Library of Queensland
The National Photographic Portrait Prize 2023 (NPPP) is a fascinating, free exhibition on display at State Library of Queensland from 11 May until 7 July, 2024.
Established by the National Portrait Gallery in 2007, to support and celebrate photographic portraiture in Australia, the NPPP attracts thousands of entries each year.

Open to established, emerging and amateur practitioners, the prize offers substantial cash, equipment and the opportunity for photographers to have their work shown in a national gallery - and on tour - alongside their mentors, idols and peers.

Judges selected 47 finalists from over 2000 entries, including a local artist who captured flooding in Graceville and a Queenslander who captured the transcultural identity of an Iranian migrant and mother.
See the winning photographs at the State Library of Queensland's slq Gallery from 11 May until 7 July, 2024.
