Proof that the best things are found off the beaten track, Loading Dock Espresso is not just another pretty stencil art face but a frontrunner for Brisbane's best cup of coffee.

The cavernous besser block shell of a loading dock has been divided into an upstairs/downstairs coffee nook, with the upstairs doubling as the tiny Just Us Gallery, which hosts the monthly changing works of local artists and features a stunning light fitting fashioned from three abandoned street lamps.

As the only outlet in Brisbane for Mambo coffee (with its own special smooth four bean blend) you can also pick up some Brendale-roasted beans to take home, although you may need to buy one of the super friendly baristas too to get as good a cup as is served here.

While munchies are restricted to freshly baked biscuits, cakes and muffins that get snaffled up early in the day, Loading Dock is also a regular hang-out for the sought after Bun Mobile. When the two of them get going on Friday afternoons boogieing and hilarity have been known to ensue.
