Kokum
Palazzo Versace
KOKUM HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
Kokum is the Gold Coast’s finest Indian restaurant, nestled on the waterfront within the Palazzo Versace complex at Main Beach.
Worth a trip from Brisbane alone for its signature to-die-for dish Sambal Barramundi, Kokum serves up exquisite Indian fare with a creative twist that is totally next level.

Diners can start with a drink on the terrace overlooking the beautiful broadwater and snack on delights like Papdi Chaat (Indian street nachos, tofu, pineapple, avocado and cumin yoghurt), Potli Samosa (beef, shortcrust pastry, galangal, eucalyptus and sesame jam) or Shrimp Bhaji (shrimp, onion, samphire and peanut chutney). Or try some freshly shucked Sydney rock oysters with finger lime, fresh cracked pepper and mint or Malibu and coconut foam.

From the Tandoor oven there’s the must-try Sambal Barramundi (with charred silverbeet and masala caviar) Pippali Chicken (lemon myrtle, paprika, cheddar and mountain pepper) or Broccoli Seekh (broccoli, rhubarb, zucchini, pineapple and kasundi).

Phir (Mains) are a real treat with the likes of Quail and Beef Kofta (quail eggs, vindaloo sauce, pickled onions and cauliflower puree), Goan Fish or Mangalorean Bugs (fresh local bugs marinated in chardonnay, lemon quinoa and coconut gassi) on offer.

There’s also heavenly meat or veg biryani and a small selection of curries such as Kashmiro lamb, Chicken Makhna, Spinach Kofta or Black Lentil Dal. And tempting accompaniments include hand cut kipfler potatoes with gunpowder dust, zucchini flowers, smoked aubergine with green chilli or cashew, pomegranate and radish.

Baad (sweets) are also outstanding, with choices such as saffron, chai and macadamia ice-cream with falooda panna cotta or saffron cheesecake log with pistachio crumb and boondi.
Drinks-wise there’s a fine selection of local and international wines by the glass or bottle, cocktails, beers, spirits and liqueurs.
