'marru I the unseen visible' is a stunning free exhibition of new painting, photography and moving image works by artist Danie Mellor at Queensland Gallery from March 15 to August 3.

The Far Country by Danie Mellor

The artist's multidisciplinary practice explores Australia’s shared history through the lens of his Ngadjon-jii, Mamu and Anglo-Celtic ancestry and celebrates his ongoing connections to Country in the rainforest areas of far north Queensland.

The end of certainty Mim Stirling

marru’,which means ‘becoming visible’ in the Dyirbal language of Mellor’s matrilineal ancestors, includes new works examining memory and remembrance, and the environmental and social impact of our colonial history.

The remembering Danie Mellor

Mellor's recomposed scenes meld archival and contemporary source imagery, reimagining historical pictorial records through painting, photography and moving image. In doing so, he presents new ways of looking and visualises the unseeable and unseen.
