Museum of Brisbane has a exciting line-up of FREE and low-cost school holiday activities for the entire family, on each day from Saturday 14 September to Sunday 29 September, from writing stories and creating zines to remixing photographs and the ultimate kids-only adventure through a closed museum!

Teen Zines Workshop, 18 + 25 September, 2pm-4pm, Cost $30 

Creative teens can learn the art of photo collage zine-making from artist Izzy Heaton. This hands-on workshop kicks off with an inspiring tour of the New Light: Photography Now + Then exhibition followed by an artist talk, with Izzy sharing valuable tips and tricks in the art of zine-making. Teens will get to design their own unique zine with a variety of provided materials including old photos and magazines.

New Light Young Explorers Tour, Tue, Wed + Thu, 9.15am-10.15am, Cost $15

MoB is opening its doors before hours just for you with the return of the Young Explorers Tour. In this fully immersive excursion, little art fans (ages 6-12 years) will go on a special tour of the New Light: Photography Now + Then exhibition, and learn about some of the ideas and themes behind the art to spark their creativity. 

They’ll be able to get hands on with some real-life artworks with a special interactive touch trolley before trying their hand at making a creation to take home. Parents and carers can choose to tag along or sit back and relax in the Dome Gallery while they wait.

Snip-Snap Badge Studio, 14-29 September, 10:30am-1:30pm, Cost $2 for 1, $5 for 3

Help remix the Alfred Eliott photography collection from the New Light: Photography Now + Then exhibition and create funky new scenes at the Snip-Snap Badge Studio. Suitable for all ages, be inspired by the photography on display and snip, glue and collage images together from the exhibition with modern imagery to create a piece of wearable art.

Write your heart out, 30 August-29 September, 9am-5pm, Cost Free

Celebrating author Trent Dalton’s Love Stories, Museum of Brisbane will burst with stories from the heart in September. Take your turn to scribe your very own love story and immerse yourself in tales of happiness and heartbreak from across the city. Visit MoB's Dome Gallery where you can leave a love letter to be shared with the world.

Teen Photography Workshop with Carl Warner, Sep 21, 2pm-4:30pm, Cost $30 plus booking fee

Teens will learn how to master the cool features and settings of their iPhone camera in this exciting masterclass, led by acclaimed artist Carl Warner. This 2.5 hour workshop will teach teens how to compose eye-catching shots, use natural and shadows creatively to enhance their photos, and experiment with unique angles and perspectives. 

This iPhone photography workshop includes a short tour of MoB's New Light: Photography Now + Then exhibition.
