Wander at The Overflow 1895

Scenic Rim

Snuggled into the landscape that hugs the Scenic Rim’s southern shore of Wyaralong Dam is Wander at The Overflow 1895, the latest in sustainable tourism to open its gate – and even better… it’s only an hour and a half drive from Brisbane.

Picture the ultimate in comfort and couple it with the best in eco-friendly practices and you have what will be one of the most coveted getaway experiences in South-East Queensland you can imagine.

At Wander, the focus is on where you are, allowing you the opportunity to clock off and realign with what’s truly important in life – yourself and those around you, nature, connection to country.

Throw in the breathtaking gift of stunning scenery and diverse landscape, plus the amazing Scenic Rim region to explore, and you will find the best ticket to relaxation ever, regardless of the weather Mother Nature delivers!

Set high on the banks of Lake Wyaralong, the five Scenic Rim WanderPods are spread over two locations, both of which are part of The Overflow Estate 1895 land holding, with each Pod named after a nearby mountain.

Wander West is where you will find Flintoff (2-bedder) and Joyce (1-bedder), the most secluded of them all.

Wander East houses three WanderPods – Moy and Juberra (both 1-bedders) and Crumpet (2-bedder) – so if you’re a group of explorers or a larger family group who want to stay close, look for availability for these.

The WanderPods are off-grid, harnessing their own solar power and capturing rainwater for your use. Therefore, you won’t find an oven, a microwave, a hairdryer or airconditioning. Instead, you have the benefit of cross ventilation to make the most of the bush breezes. And for cooking, there is a gas cooktop and an outdoor barbeque for you to get your creative culinary juices flowing.

In the cooler months, the slow-combustion fireplace inside and the fire pit outside add another layer of comfort, warmth and experience.

The stylish, black interior of the Pod lets the stunning scenery be the hero, and each are kitted out with everything you need, with a focus on using local produce and supporting local businesses. In fact, you can even pre-order a Scenic Rim Farm Box that is unpacked and ready to enjoy for your arrival.

Lush, organic linen and a float of pillows on the dreamy king-sized bed await you, and in the bathroom, you’ll enjoy the Australian botanicals of the Leif eco amenities and the delight of the overhead rainfall shower.

To top it off, there are board games and books for your enjoyment, a Bose wireless Bluetooth speaker if you need a change from the melodic sounds of the birds and cicadas that fill the air, and you have a SubPod compost system outside with worms that would love you to feed them with any organic waste from the kitchen.

If you’re wanting to unwind and just take in the view, you’ve found the most amazing place.

But if you’re keen to get into nature and explore the region, there’s no better base camp than here for you to explore the majestic Scenic Rim.

Being just a 3-minute drive from The Overflow Estate Winery 1895 and a 15-minute drive to Boonah is an added bonus, if you need to replenish supplies.

Wyaralong Dam, which was finished back in 2011, is the main water source for the Scenic Rim, and the nearby recreation area is an easy half-day explore. Adventurers will discover the beautiful Wyaralong Sculpture Park, and if a laid-back BBQ destination is what you’re after, there are plenty of spots for you to throw down a rug and relax to take in the views.

Complete with a playground for the kids and a boat ramp for the water sports enthusiasts, this public recreation spot between Boonah and Beaudesert is a hidden gem. There are also some 25km of International standard, off-road bike trails to tackle and numerous bushwalking tracks to explore.

Good to know – Wifi connection at Wander is fantastic, just in case you feel the need to keep up-to-date with what’s happening in the outside world. Future plans include guests being able to enjoy the luxury of a balcony bath, perfect to soak up and drink in the stunning views from.

Nice to know Each location is accessed by a code that allows you to unlock the gate, and each WanderPod is also accessed by secure PIN entry. These codes are sent to you on the day of arrival. It is important to remember to keep the property gate locked after you pass through.

Need to know – Wander at The Overflow 1895 is available for exclusive use, accommodating up to fourteen adults across the WanderPods. Check the website via the link below or call and chat with the very helpful team to secure your booking for this exclusive experience in the Scenic Rim.
