Pilot Officer Geoffrey Lloyd Wells

Memorial Seat

Updated: Mar 08, 2025

Of all Brisbane’s war memorials this rough hewn tuff seat, shaded under a jacaranda tree in Taringa is a particularly beautiful and unusual one, possibly because it was personally built by the family who lived in the adjacent house in memorium of their own relative Pilot Officer Geoffrey Wells who was shot down over Holland in 1941. Today, as part of the streetscape it provides a perfect spot to pause for reflection.
