You Came Again Vegan Tapas Bar
West End
You Came Again is Brisbane’s first vegan tapas bar, perched in a line-up of historic shops in the outer reach of West End’s Boundary St.
This cool and funky place has a sit-down dining area in the main bar area, which features a pressed metal ceiling, stunning graffiti art and black VJ walls and menus inside hand-selected books.
To one side is an open-sided undercover space with casual stool seating and a Wall of Fame where guests can post their pics as part of the people-focussed community vibe.
To the rear is more clusters of undercover seating and a back deck overlooking a lawn where patrons can sit and even picnic under the trees.
For drinks there’s a range of Australian craft beers including Brouhaha Maleny Lager, Great Barrier reef by Salisbury’s Ballistic Beer Co, and Abbotsford Amber Ale as well as Hillbilly Scrumby Cider from the Blue Mountains. Meanwhile wines are mainly sourced from SA, NZ and Vic, along with a Spanish Tempranillo and champagne from Ay in France’s Champagne region.
Boutique spirits are all Australian and include Mt Compass vodka and gin, Grove Distillery White and Dark Rum, Settlers Gin (shiraz, spiced fig, pomegranate and sloe) and Hellyers Road Single Malt whisky. There’s also a small selection of cocktails including Chilli Margarita, Negroni, Gin Sangria and Turkish Bed Time (love potion) and non-alcoholic drinks including tea and coffee.
Tapas include beetroot carpaccio with dill capers in citrus vinaigrette with vegan cream cheese, Asian-style sesame green beans, Vegan pesto stuffed mushrooms, Miso-good glazed eggplant, BBQ pulled jackfruit sliders with southern coleslaw and Vegan meatballs with romesco sauce and crispy garlic chips.
Leave room for dessert, with sweet offerings such as crispy waffle with berry compote ad seasonal berry nice-cream, YCA vegan lemon meringue or walnut brownie with vegan caramel sauce and vanilla ice-cream.
