Room With Roses
Brisbane
In perfect keeping with the 1920’s ambience of heritage-listed Brisbane Arcade, the exquisite Room With Roses cafe and tea rooms on the upper level are a nostalgic piece of yesteryear, still serving tea and lunches circa the 1930’s and 40’s when town was a dress up affair with gloves and a hat.
Take a seat in either the main gallery which is sprinkled with a mix of café and chintz arm chairs and overlooks the arcade below, or in the Chandelier Room where the lofty Edwardian windows overlook the leopard trees on Adelaide Street.
Meals ranging from old-fashioned sandwiches to traditional hot dishes are not cheap but with attention to detail such as home baked sweets, fresh roses on each table and linen napiery the prices are somewhat justified... the perfect place for an old-fashioned day-in-the-city treat.
The many gallery shops including The Tea Centre, Keri Craig Emporium, a landscape photographer, some of the finest artisan jewellers, many of Brisbane's top fashion designers and an antique map room, just to name a few, are in keeping with the refined ambience of the arcade and are wonderful are to explore.
