Milton Markets
Milton
Milton Markets are a fantastic inner-city Sunday market held in the leafy grounds of Milton Green's commercial village.
The sprawling lifestyle market, encompassing fresh fruit and veges, food trucks, coffee and multi-cultural food stalls, gourmet and organic providores, fashion, arts and crafts and self-care products, surrounds an old weatherboard Queenslander, whose verandahs and decks provide shaded seating for market-goers while great local live music acts provide entertainment.
Alleyways, which run around the perimeter of the building are labelled with signs pointing to what you can expect to find in that area.
Along Cribb St are the majority of food stalls and trucks peddling delicious eats and street food from around the world: Dim Sum, Banh Mi, fresh-baked NY bagels, Paella, Abyssinian dishes, Roesti, German sausages, Malaysian style Roti, Gyoza, Korean Fusion sliders, Dutch Poffertje, Austro-Hungarian treats, Spanish breakfasts, Greek sweets, French Lava Cake and Turkish Gozleme.
Coffee stalls include Fonzie Abbott and there's also Organic Iced Tea, Fresh Fruit Smoothies and a Vegan stall selling Nut Milk.
Along the other streetside, there's plenty of seating including hay bales and grass chairs under the old fig tree to enjoy breakfast before tackling the shopping.
Fruit and vegie-wise, much of the produce comes direct from regional farmers: Stanthorpe apples, Wamyuran strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, farm fresh hen and duck eggs, and dedicated avocado, finger lime and passionfruit stalls.
At these markets you'll also find breads and pastries from Italian and German bakers and sourdough from Banneton, local organic honey, maple muesli, cheese, artisan chocolate, wood-smoked meats, free-range pork, fresh seafood, pots of herbs, and fresh flowers.
There's also a small range of fashion and accessory stalls, handmade wares and gifts and crafts including a recycled pallet stall.
Need to know - Milton Market is dog-friendly (dogs must be on leash at all times). ATM is onsite. A limited amount of off-street parking is available adjacent for $2 but on-street parking in the area is tight, so be prepared to park a bit further away in the Park Road area and walk. Or better still, take the ferry to Park Road or train to Milton Station.
