The Prawnster

Brisbane CBD

The Prawnster is the most unique dining experience to be had in Brisbane - a floating fresh seafood restaurant onboard two vintage prawn trawlers docked at Riverhub in the City Botanic Gardens.

The Prawnster and The Princess Prawnster are the real deal, having worked the Queensland waters since being built at Cabbage Tree Creek in the 1970s. Now, thanks to the owner Martin and his wife, they have a new life moored at the stunning CBD location, where it offers a rustic dine-in experience for seafood lovers.

The Prawnster

Step aboard and take a seat at one of the boat's carved wooden benches to enjoy some of the best fresh seafood in the city or pick some prawns up to take home. The concise dine-in menu is strictly seafood and includes prawns of various sizes and varieties, oysters, Moreton Bay Bugs, salmon and lobster. If you want bread rolls or salads as a side, you are welcome to bring your own.

Choices start from a medium prawn platter with 800g of medium/king Queensland prawns or a platter of 800g large local seasonal King prawns. A generous mixed platter includes 3 medium Moreton Bay bugs, 2 jumbo prawns plus a 300g serve each of king and mixed medium prawns.

The Prawnster Kangaroo Point

A large tiered platter (perfect for 2) is the ultimate choice and includes 6 natural oysters, 200g Tasmanian salmon sashimi, 2 Moreton Bay bugs, 300g large king prawns and 300g of mixed medium prawns. All platters come with fresh lemon and dipping sauces.

The Prawnster Kangaroo Point

Due to the high popularity of this unique dining experience it is highly recommended that you book a seat to avoid disappointment. Note that with passing ferries and watercraft, the boats can be subjected to some rocking at times.

The menu may have changed since our visit.

The Prawnster Kangaroo Point

Need to know - The Prawnster is licensed and there is also a small selection of soft drinks and sparkling water available for purchase.
