Latin Manna
West End
Latin Manna is a quirky colourful Colombian restaurant located in an old West End cottage, next door to Three Monkeys.
Don't be fooled by the rustic decor and laidback vibe of Latin Manna, because the food here is seriously good.
Diners can take a seat on the front verandah, on the covered back deck or in the cosy dining room next to the kitchen and partake in a menu of traditional dishes that are as delicious as they are authentic.
Start the day at Latin Manna with a traditional Colombian breakfast such as Calantedo (refried beans and rice with arepa, two fried eggs and chorizo), guacamole on toast, or Colombian style scrambled eggs (served on arepa).
From the all day menu it's hard to go past their hearty house soups - Caldo de Costilla (beef rib soup believed to bring the dead 'back to life') or Ajiaco (3-type potato soup, traditional guasca herbs, sweet corn, chicken, cream and capers).
Must try are the Arepas (like a pancake made of South American cornmeal dough) with a choice of topping, including pulled beef, chorizo & haggao, pork ceviche, Manna's Arepa chicken or stir-fried veggies. There's also mini Patacanes (small plantain tapas) with toppings of hogao or guacamole, cassava chips (deep fried Yucca sticks with Thousand Island sauce) andempanadas (filed with potatoes and beef, chicken or veggies).
For mains, choices include Cazuela de Frijoes (been casserole, pork belly, chorizo, mince, plantain, avocado and rice); Tilapia (whole Tilapia fish, deep fried, with coconut rice, plantain and leafy salad) or the delectable Ceviche de Cameron (200g of pranws in house sauce (onion, garlic, tomatoes & coriander), served with crackers and green plantain.
And for dessert there's the likes of tres leches cake, guava pastry with cheese or Milhojas (a kind of Colombian Mille Feuille or creamy layered cake).
Latin Manna is BYO alcohol, with a drinks list featuring a range of traditional juices, including guava, mixed berry, pineapple, passionfruit or natural or sugarcane lemonade.
