Frydays Bar & Kitchen
West End
Frydays Bar & Kitchen is a casual late night Korean diner and bar occupying the old Hi-Fi building in the middle of the West End action on Boundary St.
Pop in any time and pull up a seat on the footpath, front terrace or inside for a drink and bite to eat from the fried chicken-focused menu.
The inside space is dominated by a massive gleaming bar, where all orders for food and drink are taken. To each side of the bar are a few a few cosy dining nooks, while the rest of the seating out front is a prime spot for people-watching.
Pretty much everything on the menu comes out of the fryer (hence the name) with entrees like deep-fried squid, pork, prawn, oyster or vegetable; fried prawn, pork or vegetable dumplings and the house specialty, chicken wings.
For something more substantial, there's chicken cutlet, fried chicken or vegetable wraps, chicken or pork cutlet and chicken salad (with deep-fried chicken).
The rest of the menu is entirely devoted to fried chicken meals, featuring heaped plates of BBQ, hot or sweet chilli, BBQ, teriyaki, soy, cream, honey or boneless chicken, served with salad, fries, nachos and tortilla wraps.
Drinks-wise, the wine menu features a selection of red, white, rose and sparkling (by the regular or large glass or bottle) wines, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and local craft beers on tap, sake, soju and refreshing cocktails such as Smirnoff Cucumber Mint Collins, Pampero Mojito, Gordon's Pink Spritz or Tanqueray London Dry Negroni. as well as house signature espresso martini.
Good to know - Look out for Fryday's great daily specials of food & drink combos.
Need to know - Both food and wine must be ordered at the bar.
