Ach Wine Bar Bistro
Hamilton
Ach is a chic modern wine bar and bistro serving exquisite Levantine-inspired cuisine, located out in the newly developing reaches of Hamilton's North Shore precinct.
Getting there is like taking a drive into no-mans's land with a handful of apartment and office blocks and alot of open fenced in space awaiting development, until Ach appears like a foodie's oasis in the desert, tucked away underneath one of the blocks.
Those who take the trip will be rewarded with what is arguably the best Middle Eastern food in Brisbane, cooked over an open flame and accompanied by boutique wines from the Middle East and Australia.
Start with one of the delectable house-made breads and accompaniments - Laffah (with hummus, garlic chive and za'atar), Mallawach (with anchovies, dill cream & qukes) or Challah (with spiced bone marrow, caper leaf & sumac shallots).
There's also oyster (with mango, amba and picked apple or baked with chilli samphire butter) and Tasmanian scallops with lamb belly bacon and chilli samphire butter.
Snacks include swordfish shashlik, golden raisins and preserved lemon; roasted Falls Farm beetroots with goat’s cheese cacik & fermented chilli; or wagyu nayyeh with green tomato ezme, parsnip & lavash.
Not to be missed are the heavenly skewers - choose from chicken shashlik, zaalouk & pickled guindillas; swordfish shashlik, golden raisins & preserved lemon; or mushroom shawarma, baba ganoush & macadamia cheese.
Large dishes to share include market fish, black radish tabbouleh & chatni gashneez; margra lamb neck, chermoula, braised fennel with bone sauce; or charred aubergine, fig kaymak, cavalo nero & aleppo olive oil.
Sides are just as flavoursome and worth ordering - think cabbage, nectarine amba & butternut squash; or caramelised carrots, sunflower seeds, lemon & garlic labneh.
Be sure to save room for dessert with two equally delectable choices - limonana granita, lemon curd sorbet, and cardamon; or halva parfait, pistachio, rose and orange gel & plum.
As well as the impressive Middle Eastern and Australian wine list, the fragrant Middle Eastern-inspired house cocktails are well worth trying, such as Karak Chai Martini or A Thousand and One Arabian Delights (Arche Rose vodka, Alize rose, lime and rose syrup).
Ach is also open in the mornings for coffee and Middle Eastern-inspired pastries and sandwiches.
Good to know - There's an excellent tasting menu (minimum of 2 ppl) available with the option of paired wines.
Need to know - Plenty of free on-street parking is available nearby.
