The Ukrainian Club

Holland Park West

The Ukrainian Club Restaurant and Bar brings a traditional slice of The Ukraine to a quiet suburban street in Holland Park West on Brisbane's southside.

The Ukrainian Club Holland Park West

Here is a simple no-frills place where Brisbane's Ukrainian community can gather along with non-Ukrainian residents and partake in delicious traditional meals and drinks.

The Ukrainian Club Holland Park West

The club is divided into two sections, with patrons entering through the main door into the cavernous dining room, which leads past an open kitchen to the bar, where there's a smattering of couches and chairs to sit and enjoy a pre-dinner Ukrainian Pyvo (beer) or Horilka (vodka).

As with the rest of the club staff, the kitchen is manned with chefs who have been displaced from The Ukraine, and who cook up delicious home-style meals unlike anything else to be found in Brisbane.

The concise menu, at club-style prices, offers a selection of mains, some of which can be served in entree size, such as Borscht (Ukrainian beetroot soup) and Varenyky (boiled Ukrainian dumplings filled with potato & cheese, served with sour cream and fried onions).

Recommended are the Banderyky (savoury Ukraine-style crepes stuffed with chicken and served with mushroom sauce) and Holubststi (cabbage rolls stuffed with beef mince and rice, simmered in tomato sauce and served with freh garden salad).

Other delicious dishes include Beef Vushka (mini beef dumplings served with sour cream, soy sauce or vinegar), Chicken Kyiv (chicken breast stuffed with garlic & herb butter, with salad and chips) and Kozak Goulash (slow cooked beef goulash with mashed potatoes).

For dessert there's a choice of Ukrainian layered honey cake or Ukrainian style crepes filled with stewed apple and there's also a small selection of kids meals (boiled Ukrainian or mini beef dumplings or chicken schnitzel with chips and salad).

The Ukrainian Club Holland Park West

As well as Ukrainian beers and vodka, there is also a small range of wines (French, Italian, NZ and Australian) by the glass or bottle and a few Australian beers.
