Mai Gai

Everton Park

Updated: Oct 28, 2021

Mai Gai is a casual garden-style Pan Asian eatery and bar located in the Park Lane dining precinct of Everton Plaza in Everton Park.

Diners can take a seat in the Asian-chic interior, the annexed pavilion (which is dog friendly) or the picnic tables in the laneway and enjoy drinks and a delicious selection of dishes from across south east Asia.

Snacks include prawn toast, king fish sashimi, sticky popcorn chicken and sichuan salted squid as well as a delectable range of bao (karaage chicken, pork belly, Massaman brisket or Moreton Bay bug).

House specialties include curries (Mai Gai butter chicken, pork belly panang, crispy barramundi yellow curry or brisket Massaman) as well ad pork fried rice, pad thai noodles and cashew chicken.

Meanwhile Mains include Gai Yang butterfly charcoal chicken, crispy whole baby fish, Char prawn Som Tam (green papaya, cherry tomato, chilli tamarind dressing and peanuts) ot Twice Cooked short rib (marbled Cape Grim beef).

Mai Gai also serves a cracking list of Asian flavoured cocktails including Mai Shangri-La (Havana Club white rum, elderflower liqueur, mandarin and lemon juice, sugar syrup & fresh melon); Koh-Koh-Nut Maigarita (Patron tequila, cointreau, coconut cream, coconut milk, lime juice & dessicated coconut) and Mai Sugar Hai (Absolut vodka, blue curacao, pineapple and lime juice & sugar syrup).

There's also a good selection of boutique wines from Australia and New Zealand along with beers on tap (including Mai Gai lager) and Asian and local craft bottled beer.

Good to know - The covered outdoor section is dog friendly as are the picnic tables in the laneway.

Need to know - There is free onsite parking at Everton Plaza however with the range of popular bars and eateries there this can easily fill up.
