Palm Grove Rainforest Circuit
Mt Tamborine
Pademelons, palm trees and cathedral buttresses are all features of this exclusive easy grade walk of around 1 hr via Mt Tamborine’s ethereal Palm Grove Rainforest Circuit.
With a choice of 2 entrances (Curtis Rd and Palm Grove Ave) that connect to the circuit walk, the former involves a steeper route via stairs while the latter is the more popular due to its more gentle pathway descent.
Whichever way you choose, both offer a quick plunge into the cool dappled forest of tall skinny Piccaneen palms and giant strangler figs and down to the start of the circuit where the ‘cathedrals of the forest’, aka the buttressed bases of yellow carrabeens lurk.
On the way listen out for the gurgle of Mt Tamborine’s giant earthworms and look out for the little red-necked pademelons which can be often be heard and sometimes glimpsed scampering through nearby leaves and undergrowth.
The 1.4 km circuit itself, which is signposted and connects to the currently closed Jenyns Falls circuit, leads through a mix of open eucalypt forest, palms and fig trees.
