Marketcart
Herston
Marketcart is a thriving, healthy cafe located across the road from the RBWH on the border of Herston and Windsor.
With a menu created by a chef and a dietician, everything is fresh, handmade and balanced – ensuring diners receive a nourishing feed no matter what they order.
The expansive interior is decked out with wooden tables and couch seating, with a wall of fridges for those who need to grab breakfast or lunch on-the-go. The aptly named Marketcart is decorated with milk carts filled with healthy, homemade snacks such as popcorn and roasted pistachios.
Outside you will find more wooden tables and bar seating where diners can sit with a coffee and watch the hustle and the bustle of Butterfield Street.
Takeaway food is the most popular way to eat at Marketcart, with a range of stone artisan baked baguettes, rye bread sandwiches, salad packed wraps and an abundance of salads on offer. The Ham Off The Bone Baguette is popular with diners, as well as the Superfood Salad.
Snack packs are also available to diners and are popular with the regulars; the hospital staff. Options include vegetable and dip packs, smoked salmon and egg protein pots, museli and honey pots, natural yoghurt and an abundance of fruit pots.
Diners can choose to eat within the café, serving the same takeaway menu on chopping boards to provide an all-natural, rustic feel. Marketcart also serves nutritious hot meals such as butter chicken, ravioli and healthy burritos.
Marketcart’s organic, balanced smooth coffee is popular during the morning coffee rush, although the Marketcart Black Market blend is also a hit with caffeine lovers with its’ bold, full bodied and rich nature. Alongside the specialty coffees, there are also a range of teas and juices to choose from, as well as Marketcart’s own bottled cold brew.
The café is also licensed to sell a range of craft beer, cider and wine for those late Friday lunches.
Need to know – Street parking is available but limited.
