Gleaming white tiles frame the takeaway window on the street while inside Bowen Arrow Cafe the light industrial-inspired interior features exposed Besser brick walls, polished concrete floors, a recycled wood community table, wall-mounted plant boxes and a stunning black and white photo mural of the Bowen Hills locale in 1937.

Excellent coffee served at Bowen Arrow, perfect for a kick-start to the day commuters at neighbouring Bowen Hills railway station and pick-me-up for local workers. And the food, which comprises an all day breakfast/brunch menu and some delicious goodies from the display counter, has an emphasis on fresh, healthy and seasonal and whether takeaway or eat in, comes served in a cardboard box.

Sourdough toast (with condiments) or fruit toast is a bargain while other light options include muesli and yoghurt, bacon and egg or vegetarian bagels, ham and cheese croissants or avo on sourdough.

From the counter, come lunch options like delicious bagels from Bagel Boys with fillings like salmon and cream cheese or the recommended Roast Beef with Dijon mayo and Swiss cheese. And fresh daily salads (such as Tuscan pasta or Provencal) are great value.

Peanut Butter Pie and Matcha Coconut Cheesecake

There’s also a small range of heavenly sweet stuff like Peanut Butter Pie and Matcha Coconut Cheesecake.

NOTE - Currently Bowen Arrow is a CASH ONLY affair.

Nice to know – There’s plenty of room for prams inside, with a couple of timber crafted highchairs for use.

Need to know – Bowen Arrow is located on the busy corner of Campbell St and Mayne Rd, at the base of Madison Heights apartments. Parking can be challenging on weekdays, but on weekends when local businesses are closed limited spaces are available in nearby streets.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
