Taro's Ramen
Brisbane Cbd
Taro’s Ramen is a pocket-sized contemporary Japan eatery by Brisbane’s own ramen master, tucked away upstairs in Brisbane CBD’s landmark 480 Queen Street building.
Chef and owner Taro’s 3rd offering to Brisbane ramen fans is well worth seeking out if in this part of the city for his signature bowls of Japanese noodle soup.
Customers order at the counter before pulling up a wooden stool at one of the handful of tables in the minimalist concrete floored dining area which features a stunning piece of wall art.
The menu at this Taro’s Ramen outlet is somewhere mid-size between the comprehensive list of offerings in his Ascot restaurant and the Edward Street bolthole with its handful of choices.
Here you’ll find Taro’s famous Tonkotsu Ramen (super rich broth made from Bangalow sweet pork bone cooked for 2 days) or Red Tonkotsu (mild), Shio Ramen (‘Golden Triple Soup’ clear broth with vegetables, chicken and dried seafood) or the extra spicy Fire Tonkotsu (Bangalow sweet pork bone broth with touch of garlic cooked in a high pressure cooker and topped with charsui pork, nori, egg and shallots).
In addition there’s Tsukemen (cold noodles with hot dipping sauce), Vegetarian Dry Noodles with Stamina Vegetables, Vegan Gluten Free Curry Rice or Pork Kimchi Rice.
And a small range of sides include Pork Gyoza, Kakuri (Braised Pork Cheek), Chicken Karaage and Cold or Spicy Cold Tofu.
Served at dinner only is a Miso Ramen (‘Golden Triple Soup’ with pork mince, flavoured with oyster sauce, ginger, garlic and miso) as well as a hearty Bangalow Sweet Pork Shabu Shabu Hot Pot (minimum of 2, pre-booking required).
Taro’s Ramen also offers a Banquet Course for a minimum of 4 people, pre-booked, at dinner only.
To accompany there’s Premium Ureschino Green tea and a range of cool drinks in the fridge, and diners can BYO bottled wine.*
