The Rabbit Hole

Petrie Terrace

The Rabbit Hole is a magical Alice In Wonderland themed hidden bar whose entry is via a rabbit hole at the rear of Velveteen Rabbit on Petrie Terrace.

Entry at base of stairs in The Rabbit Hole Bar

Venture down the staircase inside the rabbit hole to find two rooms with checkered floors - the first, a whimsical lounge with antique writing desk, grandfather lock, skeleton and velvet chairs and lounge.

Lounge bar inside The Rabbit Hole Bar

From there, step through another door which leads outside and to the left is a dimlit speakeasy cellar bar with a scattering of Alice in Wonderland themed decor and trinkets.

Cocktail bar area inside The Rabbit Hole Bar

Here you can kick back and enjoy fun Alice in Wonderland themed cocktails such as Off With Their Heads (cognac, disaronno, cherry vincotto & apricot/sage syrup; The Catless Grin (gin, grapefruit oloe, melon, rosemary oil mist & lemon); Unbirthday Party (cacao butter washed rye, hot cross bun spice, white chocolate & Px) or Curioser and Curioser (dark rum, lime, amaro lucano, tepache and coke reduction).

Cocktails on table at The Rabbit Hole Bar

There's also the Madhattan (bourbon, rye, cynar & smoked eucalyptus honey) or The King and Queen (dry gin, lemon, peach liqueur, sugar & blueberry foam) as well as boutique wines, spirit and beers.

Behind the bar at The Rabbit Hole Bar

Food-wise, combine with a delicious rabbit food platter from upstairs or (soon to come) a cheese platter. And be sure to check out the curiouser and curiouser touches behind the bar like the story-themed bottles labelled Elixir of Madness and Drink Me.

Seats against wall at The Rabbit Hole Bar

Also look out for the tiny fairy door by the entrance to the lounge, for Alice when she shrunk after drinking from the bottle labelled 'Drink Me'.

Door at the entry of Velveteen Rabbit

Good to know - Before or after going down The Rabbit Hole, treat yourself to some scrumptious food upstairs at Velveteen Rabbit, where there's a two-hatted chef in the kitchen.
