Supernova
Fortitude Valley
Supernova is a slick, contemporary cafe in the heart of Fortitude Valley serving soba, sandos and sweet treats along with excellent espresso.
Located on McLachlan Street on the ground floor of The Eminence, Supernova is a sibling for the Valley's James & Antler and Mitch & Antler in Mitchelton.
The light- filled venue provides banquette seating in an open, airy space as well as more intimate seating in a cosy corner of the cafe, where customers can enjoy Japanese-inspired eats and listen to vinyl records.
The concise menu include delicious breakfast fare such as croffles served with perfectly poached eggs, grilled ham and mozzarella miso hollandaise, and Spam katsu with folded eggs and Japanese milk bread.
Supernova's sandos include a range of katsu sandwiches made on soft milk bread with house made sweet bbq sauce and accompanied with shoyu dipping sauce and pickled ginger - think chicken, pork, Black Angus, and Mother and Daughter (chicken katsu and soft egg mayo).
Soba Japanese noodle dishes can be ordered with spicy wagyu, scallion, a trio of mushrooms and soft egg; tuna sashimi, radish, nori and sesame; or scorched teriyaki tofu with roasted sweet potato, snow peas, slaw and peanut gochujang dressing.
For something sweet, there's a a cabinet filled with the likes of madeleines, cookie croissants, and strawberry cake in cans. Plus, for a savoury snack, there's yummy Japanese curry buns (kare pan).
Coffee on pour is supplied by Kasa, served along with T-Bar teas, Callebaut hot or cold chocolate, matcha and hojicha lattes, and strawberry matcha lattes.
