Sonder Dessert

Sunnybank Hills

Sonder Dessert is a sweet café in Sunnybank Hills serving specialty drinks and desserts with a decidedly Japanese flavour.

Perched on the corner of Beenleigh Road and Farne Street, Sonder Dessert is a dream in the making for Phi and his partner Roxy, whose goal is to bring something special to Brisbane. Open from 11am til late* (last orders taken at midnight) crowds have been queuing at this corner café since opening.

Inside, the décor is warm and welcoming with white furnishings and plenty of greenery. Seating includes cosy booths, communal table and outdoor dining (with heat lamps provided for those chilly evenings).

Desserts on offer range from matcha green tea panna cottas and vanilla bean crème brulees (served with a scoop of salted caramel ice-cream in a mini waffle basket) to their signature sweets: black sesame and matcha green tea parfaits with layers of agar jelly, vanilla soft serve ice-cream, cornflakes, sweet azuki bean paste, rice flour mochi, premium black sesame or matcha ice-cream and whipped cream.

Gourmet ice-cream is available by the scoop or if you can’t decide, try an ice-cream flight with 4, 6 or 8 flavours. Choose from salted caramel, strawberry jam, Belgian white chocolate, sticky rice, matcha green tea, black sesame and more.

Drinks include hot matcha lattes, iced matcha floats and frappes to name a few. They also serve a selection of premium Japanese teas sourced directly from an independent eco tea farm in Japan. A must try is the Sweet Spring Sakura (cherry blossom flowers) only served on special occasions in Japan but always available at Sonder.
