Kenilworth Market
Kenilworth
Held every Saturday morning, the Kenilworth Market is just over 2 hours’ north of Brisbane.
Whether you take to the highway or prefer to take the scenic route to explore Mary Valley Country, these Sunshine Coast country markets are perfect when you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the city for a weekend drive.
You’ll find regular stallholders that bring their wares each week, beautifully blended with pop-up stalls, giving these markets a real place in community for not only the locals who shop and sell there, but visitors and day-trippers alike.
The freshest of fruit and veggies come straight from local farmers, and some of the most amazing local honey is yours to taste and take home. Coffee is made to order, and cold drinks including freshly pressed juices will quench your thirst.
Many of us are familiar with pesto – usually made with pine nuts or the like – but up here, you can get to try delicious Bunya Nut Pesto and it is not to be missed.
There’s quite a spread of relishes, jams and pickles on offer and in abundance, showcasing the variety and flavours of the season and the Sunshine Coast hinterland region.
For those who enjoy a tipple, the full range of Twelve & a Half Acres craft distilled gins and spirits, who herald from just up the road in Montville, are a must-try. You can buy direct from them at the markets – perhaps for a picnic later – or enjoy the ease of purchasing online to have it delivered straight to your door.
Handmade clothes for kids, as well as women’s fashion and clothes for men, are on offer if you’re needing to freshen up your wardrobe. Plus, handmade earrings and jewellery pieces for every occasion are a delight to admire and make the perfect gift.
Home décor is sorted, too, with gorgeous hand-painted ceramics, colourful macrame creations and stylish artworks for inside the home, plus for the garden lovers, loads of unique and crafty garden art sculptures are dotted around the markets to tempt and inspire you.
Nice to know – These country markets are located in Kenilworth’s historic town park which was dedicated in 1957 to perpetuate the memory of the early pioneers back in the mid-1800s who first settled in the area.
Need to know – Dogs on leash are welcome, and the area is fully pram-friendly and wheelchair accessible.
There’s a great big kids’ playground right beside the markets, so the kids can have their fun, too.
