Kamala
Teneriffe
Kamala is a cool contemporary Indian restaurant in the base of Teneriffe's London wool stores, serving classic dishes with a delectable twist.
On the concise menu is some of the most flavoursome and exquisite Indian food to be found in Brisbane, starting with vegetable or chaat samosas, onion bhaji, chicken tikka or grilled lamb cutlets cooked in the tandoor.
Beautifully presented main dishes include Butter chicken, prawn or paneer ( a must-try): Sarg chicken or lamb (a rich creamy sauce made from simmered greens); Masala (chicken, beef, lamb, prawn, goat or paneer) and lamb or beef Rogan Josh.
For something spicier there's chicken, lamb or beef Madras or Vindaloo; while vegetarian dishes include Aloo Gobi (cauliflower and potatoes lightly sauteed with herbs and spices), Daal Fry (lentils sauteed in aromatic herbs & spices) and Handi (creamy mild vegetable curry).
Also highly recommended is the Biryani (chicken, beef, goat, prawn, lamb or mixed veges), while to accompany there's plain, garlic and cheese naan and coconut, saffron or steamed rice.
Kamala's cocktail list includes house signature cinnamon margarita, fireball sour (Kamala's take on whisky sour), chilli or classic margarita, martini or aperol spritz, while the concise wine list offers a small slection of Australian and NZ wines by the glass or bottle.
Otherwise there's a selection of craft beers, seltzers and boutique spirits as well as soft drinks and juices.
Need to know - There is limited metered on-street parking nearby and Teneriffe Ferry Terminal is a short walk away.
