The gleaming brightly lit space is lined by dining tables and, along one wall, wooden banquettes and attentive waitstaff bustle between tables serving up generous beautifully presented trays of traditional katsu sets.

Whilst katsu is king here, the smaller dishes for starters are top notch, from the edamame to the melt-in-the-mouth sashimi, some of the best quality you'll find in Brisbane.

Signature at Katsuco are the katsu sets, which all include  rice, sliced cabbage, katsu sauce, miso soup, pickled vegetables and wasabi.

Choose from Tomahawk katsu (fried breaded 350g pork rib eye, truffle olive oil); Tonkatsu (200g pork loin); highly recommended cheese katsu (mozzarella cheese-wrapped pork loin); chicken katsu (chicken thigh fillet); ebi katsu (tiger king prawns with tartare sauce); or tofu katsu.

Equally delicious and another house specialty are the Donburi - salmon don (aged salmon sashimi); aburi salmon (torched salmon); and eggplant don; or the katsu curry don (tofu, chicken, pork or prawn), all of which are served with rice, miso soup or salad.
