Galvanized - A Festival of Heritage
City of Ipswich
Step back in time with Ipswich's signature history festival, Galvanized – A Festival of Heritage, showcasing the finest heritage experiences and events the City of Ipswich has to offer, from 29 August to 8 September, 2024.
Explore a program of over 30 events, ranging from First Nations experiences, blacksmithing workshops, haunted ghost tours, historical dances, built heritage talks, and so much more, when Galvanized – A Festival of Heritage returns to one of Queensland's oldest towns.
An incredible addition to this year’s festival is the Indigenous Wild Foods & Cultural Festival on Saturday, 31 August. This free, family-friendly, fun day is jam-packed with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, food and cooking demos, workshops, traditional cultural performances, rides and fireworks.
With Father’s Day falling on 1 September, the first Sunday of Galvanized, this is your chance to spoil dad with Steam & Smoke BBQ. Make treasured memories with vintage vehicles, entertainment, delicious BBQ foods, and a steam train ride.
Looking to let down your hair? Join a WWII victory dinner dance recreation with vintage entertainment, dinner and swing dance, held across three beautiful historical Marburg locations.
The fantastic lineup of workshops, tours and open days included in this year’s festival are sure to keep you busy; try your hand at blacksmithing or unleash your creativity with sandblasting.
Maybe a haunted tour after dark tour is more your style or digging into your family history. Want to take part from the comfort of your own home? Show off your LEGO master skills by recreating a heritage image with ‘Brickswich’, an online event.
