La de Lah is a sleek contemporary Malaysian restaurant taking traditional cuisine up a notch to the next level, with service to match, located at South Bank.

Helmed by Malaysian chef Eugene Lee, who enhances the bold, rich flavours of his heritage with a modern creative twist, La de Lah is the go-to for what is arguably in the best Malaysian food to be found in Brisbane. 

Diners can take a seat on the pavement outside and watch the world go by or inside the chic striking interior which features booth and banquette seating, low-hanging golden lights and rustic exposed brick walls.

Must-try at La De Lah are the make-your-own bao, served in the restaurant's beautiful imported tiffin dishes, with fillings of sweet bug tail or urban valley mushrooms, fennel and house-made green sriracha.

As well as the bao, other starters/'la de light dishes' include the exquisite spanner crab tartlet wuth fried enoki and ginger fillet sauce or paper pouch chicken wings and marinated cucumber.

Next size (la-de-mid) plates, which are equally delicious, include chargrilled Mooloolaba prawns, tamarind & green tomato; spice fried quail & smoked kecap manis; and coconut turmeric cauliflower satay.

La de Large plates include local market fish in Assam curry, okra and tomato; Nasi Goreng kerabu, bean sporouts, snake beans, anchovies & sambal; urban valley mushroom chilli, pickled onion & roti; or slow cooked Angus short rib, wood ear fungus & potato.

To accompany there's steamed rice (which gets its blue colour from butterfly pea) or roti, while for dessert there's a choice of jackfruit & passionfruit pavlova with Milo hot fudge & pandan coconut ice-cream; or seasonal flavoured ice-cream and almond rocher.

The drinks list is designed to complement the menu, with cocktails such as chilli or coconut margarita, classic mojito, and espresso or lychee martini; beers including Yoyogi black or rice lager, Diablo ginger beer and Brouhaha rhubarb sour; and a small curated selection of Australian, French, Italian and Austrian wines.  

Need to know - La de Dah is located in the same Little Stanley St stretch as sibling Ma Pa Me and there is limited metered parking nearby or secure underground parking at South Bank Parklands. South Bank Station is a 5 minute walk away.
