Vega Cafe

Spring Hill

Vega Cafe is a bright and airy, vegan cafe nestled on a street corner in Spring Hill, serving delicious brunch by day and Asian eats by night.

Found on the corner of Allenby and Boundary Streets on the ground floor of an apartment block, the charming cafe boasts an leafy, outdoor courtyard with additional dining provided inside, featuring a couple of bold and vibrant botanical murals.

The fully-vegan menu includes breakfast fare such as the Vega omelette loaded with turmeric harissa chickpeas, mixed mushrooms, spinach, Cajun tempeh, plant-based meat, tomatoes, and vegan Parmesan, served with sourdough; garlic bagel topped with scrambled tofu, mushroom duxelles, sliced avocado, vegan mayo and beetroot hummus; and a croffle stacked with grilled vegan halloumi, pesto tempeh, caramelised onion, avocado, crispy kale and carrots, and bean sprouts.

Sweet tooths are well-catered for with French toast served with house made sago coconut pudding, seasonal fruit, and plant-based ice-cream; croffle topped with in-house raspberry puree, plant-based ice-cream and cream; plus a cabinet filled with vegan treats, from chocolate brownies and carrot cake, to apple and tahini tarts, mud cake, and macarons.

Vega Cafe also dishes up delicious dinner fare including entrees, like cauli buffalo wings (crumbed, marinated cauliflower tossed in house made buffalo wings sauce); grilled garlic pita bread served with mixed olives and a trio of plant-based dips; and fresh betel leaves topped with tempeh and mushroom pate, edamame, corn, cucumber, beetroot, beans, roasted coconut, crispy enoki and plum sauce.

Mains include a mellow yellow and a Massaman curry with your choice of plant-based protein (chicken, beef, duck, prawn, tempeh or tofu), stir-fries, noodle dishes, burgers and more. Meanwhile, save room for dessert such as the Asian-inspired Roti Kaumhom - puff pastry stuffed with caramelised banana, with oat sweetened condensed milk on top, roasted coconut and vanilla coconut ice-cream.

Drinks wise, Fonzie Abbott organic coffee is on pour, served along with specialty lattes, iced-teas, in-house fruit sodas, and smoothies.

Nice to know - Vega Cafe is child friendly with a dedicated Kid's Menu, and is also dog friendly.
