Deli Dakota

Mount Gravatt East

Deli Dakota is dishing up delish deli-style sandwiches and expertly brewed coffee from a bolt-hole cafe in Mount Gravatt East.

Deli Dakota, Mount Gravatt East

Formerly known as The Gift Shop, the cafe has launched a new name along with a new location, nestled in the back streets of the southside suburb, with limited dining inside, a handful of tables and chairs on the footpath, plus take-away.

The sandwich-centric menu boasts a bevy of bagels, baguettes, and milk buns stuffed with the likes of smoked ham and cheddar cheese, Tassie lamb shoulder or Moreton Bay bug tails.

Classic sangas include the Breakfast Burger (fried egg, bacon, avo, cheese and chilli jam), Avo Toast (smashed avo with labne and zaatar on sourdough) and the ultimate ham and cheese sandwich - Croque Monsieur, made with free range smoked ham, cheddar, swiss and parmesan béchamel and dijon mustard.

Other much-loved sandwiches on offer are roast chicken and avo, a tuna melt, Vietnamese bahn mi, and Reuben bagel, with a few vegan options thrown in for good measure.

Some sandwiches are ready to grab-and-go, while half a dozen are made-to-order like the deli's signature sandwich DFC (Dakoto Fried Chicken) with buttermilk fried chicken, kimchi mayo and hot sauce on milk bun, and Moreton Bay Po Boy (spiced fried Moreton Bay bug tail, tomato, lettuce, mango, and sriracha mayo).

Coffee on pour is supplied by Rosso Roasting Co (Melbourne) served along with rotating single origins, cold brew, chai, matcha, hot chocolate, and decadent shakes such as Cherry Right, Never Not Nutella, and Oreo the Only Way.

If the shakes don't satisfy your sweet tooth, there's a selection of sweets on offer like Butterbing cookies, carrot cakes, and New York cheesecakes.
