Flour & Chocolate

Morningside

Whoever said man can't live on bread alone clearly hadn't been to Flour and Chocolate, Morningside's artisan bakery.

For this rustically elegant little shop tucked back off the road in a drive-by shopping strip is a destination to cross town for when it comes to all things baked.

Sour dough organic loaves and ciabatta walk out the door as do croissants and pain au chocolat on weekends, (especially since Brisbane's French community cottoned onto the fact that the croissants here are the real deal). Other big sellers are his olive and fetta focaccia and quiches, all made with predominantly organic and locally sourced ingredients.

But baker, owner and chef Lachlan's talents go beyond bread to fine cakes such as butter cakes (try the vanilla bean), brownies, meringues and even his own onion chilli jam.

Flour and Chocolate also have a mini in-store pantry with a stash of organic flours, artisan preserves, Dutch cocoa powder, chocolate gallet, gourmet oils and vinegars and convivial owners Kylie and Lachlan are more than happy to share tips, tastings and info on everything on offer.
