Newstead Social
Newstead
Newstead Social is a stunning, subterranean garden bar and kitchen that resides in the basement of a former factory in Newstead.
A sibling for the Valley's Cindy Chows and Stafford's Soul Pantry Kitchen & Bar, Newstead Social is an industrial chic dining and drinking den with old-world glamour, featuring a gilded chandelier, mid-century bookcase, and plenty of plants including a wall of greenery.
The menu boasts a tasty selection of starters, main dishes and signature platters, with something for everyone. Starters range from crispy calamari and buttermilk fried chicken, to porcini and truffle arancini and prawn and lobster rolls.
More substantial offerings on the Mains menu are slow-cooked pork ribs with pomegranate glaze, grain-fed Black Angus sirloin steak served with fries and jus, and crispy skin barramundi with Sicilian salsa.
Alternatively, there's good-old fashioned pub grub like chicken schnitzel and parmigiana, as well as a crispy chicken burger and charred broccoli salad with pine nuts, pomegranate, currants, pickled onions, tomatillo verde and turmeric yoghurt.
Share plates include a cheese board (triple cream brie, matured cheddar, creamy blue cheese, quince paste, dried fruit and crackers), charcuterie board loaded with cheese, salami, prosciutto and mixed olives, and Newstead Social's signature platter piled with slow-cooked lamb shoulder, sticky pork ribs, prawn and lobster rolls, fried chicken, crispy calamari, and arancini.
Drinks wise, you'll find craft beer on tap and bottled from the likes of Stone & Wood, Green Beacon and Balter, plus Newstead Social Lager. In addition, there's a decent wine list, classic cocktails and signature cocktails including Mango Colada, Caramel Popcorn Martini and refreshing Spritzers: passionfruit, strawberry and elderflower, melon, and blackcurrant.
The friendly neighbourhood kitchen and bar also boasts a pool table, large screen TVs, and features live music along with bingo and trivia nights.
