Oh Boy, Bok Choy!
Stafford
Oh Boy, Bok Choy! is a slick contemporary Pan Asian eatery and bar tucked away in a shopping strip on busy Stafford Road, Stafford.
The warm inviting interior features polished timber floors, green leather banquettes along two of the lamplit walls, tree sculpture and a bar and there is also a smattering of tables out front (where dogs are welcome to join their owners).
The delectable menu offers starters such as spiced tonkatsu sauce lamb ribs and daikon salad; fresh rice paper rolls or crispy silken tofu, red dragon sauce and puffed rice or 'Oh Boy' prawn toast with yuzu mayo.
Small dishes include popcorn cauliflower with chilli caramel and coconut or tempura honey prawns with sesame seeds or try one of the delicious MYO bao buns (crispy mushroom, tempura prawn or sticky pork).
Larger dishes include massaman curry with braised beef, baby potatoes and spiced peanuts; (highly recommended) mapo tofu with eggplant, mushroom & vegan oyster sauce; fried baby squid, Asian herb crumbs & red nim jam or whisky tamarind pork belly and grilled watermelon salad.
In addition, there's wok tossed pad see ew; chicken pho and rice noodles or 'Oh Boy' fried rice, as well as sides such as bok choy salad, wok tossed bok choy or roti bread and peanut sauce.
And for sweets, choices include Viet coffee panna cotta, fairy floss and peanut brittle; coconut jelly, spiced strawberries and star anise syrup or 'Oh Boy' soft serve ice-cream. Can't decide? Then order the $45 or $65 chef's menu (min 2) for a sample of the best dishes.
The drinks menu is a match for the food with a focus on local, including a selection of Sea Legs Brewing beers on tap, a boutique wine menu including an array of Witches Falls wines, and small batch spirits. There's also a playful list of Asian flavoured cocktails and mocktails.
