Lloyd's General Store
Fortitude Valley
Lloyd's General Store is a cosy cafe by day, ambient bar by night, located on the edge of the Valley in a 1920's art deco building.
The petite, European-inspired neighbourhood deli, cafe and bar boasts rustic charm with exposed brick, polished concrete flooring, and a comfy booth where patrons can settle in for the night with a bottle of wine and a platter piled with cheese and charcuterie such as Le Conquèrant camembert, English aged cheddar, Italian salami, green olives, quince paste and toasted sourdough.
During the day, customers can sidle up to the timber bar and enjoy expertly-brewed Allpress coffee and freshly-baked croissants with strawberry jam or goat's cheese, or a European breakfast of Italian salami and French comté cheese.
Lunch offerings include sandwiches ranging from a classic cheese toastie to a gourmet sanga such as salami, rocket, comté, cornichons and vine-ripened tomatoes with dijon mustard on sourdough; as well as fresh, wholesome salads - red lentils, black barley, roasted pumpkin, asparagus and rocket with toasted walnuts, drizzled with tahini lemon dressing.
There's a concise wine list, available by the glass or bottle, plus craft beer brewed locally like Slipstream Brewing, Black Hops and Brouhaha.
In addition, there's a small display case filled with artisan cheese and charcuterie, and a few shelves stocked with gourmet pantry items to take home: truffle salt, balsamic vinegar, hot sauce, sardines and more.
